Privacy Policy — Capsule Notes

Overview

Capsule Notes ("the App") is developed by Ruben Nahatakyan. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data the App collects, how it is used, and your rights.

Data Collection

Capsule Notes processes all data entirely on your device. No audio recordings, transcriptions, summaries, or any other content is sent to external servers.

Data Processed On-Device

  • Audio recordings — for voice note playback, stored on device / iCloud (if enabled)
  • Transcriptions — speech-to-text conversion, stored on device / iCloud (if enabled)
  • AI summaries & action items — note organization, stored on device / iCloud (if enabled)
  • Language detection — for accurate transcription, stored on device

Data We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not collect personal information
  • We do not collect usage analytics or tracking data
  • We do not use third-party analytics SDKs
  • We do not send audio or text to any server
  • We do not access your contacts, location, or browsing history

Speech Recognition

The App uses Apple's on-device Speech Recognition framework. When an on-device speech model is available, all processing happens locally. If on-device recognition is unavailable for your selected language, Apple's server-based recognition may be used — this is handled by Apple and subject to Apple's Privacy Policy (https://www.apple.com/privacy/).

Apple Intelligence

If your device supports Apple Intelligence, the App may use on-device language models to generate summaries and extract action items. This processing happens entirely on your device. No data is sent to Apple or any third party for this purpose.

iCloud Sync

If you enable iCloud Sync in Settings, your note data (text, metadata, and optionally audio files) is synced across your devices via Apple's iCloud and CloudKit infrastructure. This data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple. You can disable iCloud Sync at any time in the App's settings. Refer to Apple's iCloud Security Overview (https://support.apple.com/en-us/102651) for details.

In-App Purchases

The App offers optional subscription plans ("Capsule Notes Pro") via Apple's App Store. Purchase transactions are handled entirely by Apple. We do not collect or store payment information.

Reminders Integration

The App allows you to add action items to the Apple Reminders app. This requires your explicit permission and only occurs when you tap the "Add to Reminders" button. No reminder data is sent to us.

Microphone Access

The App requires microphone access to record voice notes. Microphone data is only used during active recording sessions and is saved locally to your device. The App does not access the microphone in the background.

Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. Since no personal data is collected from any user, the App is safe for users of all ages.

Data Retention

All data is stored locally on your device (and in your personal iCloud account if sync is enabled). Deleting a note removes it from your device and iCloud. Uninstalling the App removes all local data.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.
