Pet Health Manager - Support
We're glad you're using Pet Health Manager. This page answers the most common questions and explains how to get help.
If you don't find your answer here, email us at ruben@nahatakyan.com, and we'll get back to you within 2 business days.
Getting started
How do I add my first pet?
On first launch, the App shows a welcome screen with an "Add Your First Pet" button. Tap it, fill in the name, species, breed, and date of birth, optionally add a photo and accent colour, then tap Save. The pet appears on the Pets tab.
Can I track more than one pet?
The free version lets you track 1 pet. To track multiple pets, upgrade to Pet Health Pro in Settings → Upgrade to Pro. Pro includes a 7-day free trial on the yearly plan.
Medications and reminders
How do I set up a medication reminder?
- Tap a pet → Medications → +
- Enter the medication name, dosage, and unit
- Choose a frequency (Daily, Specific Days, Every N Hours, or As Needed)
- Set the time(s) of day and start date
- Tap Save
The App will schedule local notifications for the next 30 days. You'll get a notification at each scheduled time, with three actions: Taken, Snooze 15 min, or Skip.
Why am I not getting notifications?
Check the following:
- iOS Settings → Notifications → Pet Health Manager — make sure notifications are allowed and "Banners" or "Lock Screen" are enabled
- Make sure the medication is active (not deleted or deactivated)
- The first notification may take a moment to register after you save
- If you scheduled the time within the past minute, iOS may have skipped it — try a time at least 1 minute in the future
- Background App Refresh should be enabled for the App in Settings → General → Background App Refresh
What does "Snooze 15 min" do?
Snooze logs the dose as snoozed in the history and schedules a new notification 15 minutes later. The next regular dose still fires on its normal schedule.
Can I track doses I missed earlier?
Yes — open the Today tab. Overdue doses appear at the top in red. Swipe right to mark Taken, swipe left to Skip or Snooze.
Vaccines
Why does the due date appear automatically for some vaccines?
Pet Health Manager uses a built-in rules table for common vaccines (Rabies, DHPP, FVRCP, RHDV2, etc.) and predicts the next due date based on the species and the date you administered the dose. The prediction is shown with a sparkle icon ✨.
Predictions are heuristics, not medical advice. Always confirm with your veterinarian.
Can I add a vaccine that isn't in the dropdown?
Yes — pick "Custom" in the dropdown and type any name. The App will save it without a predicted due date.
Weight tracking
How do I switch between kilograms and pounds?
Settings → Units → Weight. The selected unit is used everywhere in the App, including charts, entries, and exports.
My weight chart is empty
Add at least one weight entry for that pet (Pet detail → Weight → +). The chart appears once there's data.
Subscriptions
What's included in Pet Health Pro?
- Unlimited pets (free tier is limited to 1)
- iCloud sync across your Apple devices
- PDF export
- All future Pro features included
How much does Pro cost?
- Monthly: $0.99 / month (auto-renews)
- Yearly: $9.99 / year with a 7-day free trial (auto-renews)
Pricing varies by region; the App shows your local price before purchase.
How do I cancel my subscription?
iOS Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions → Pet Health Pro → Cancel
The App never processes cancellations directly — Apple does. You'll keep Pro access until the end of the current paid period.
How do I get a refund?
Visit https://reportaproblem.apple.com/ — refunds are issued by Apple, not by us.
I purchased Pro on another device — how do I unlock it here?
Open the App → Settings → Restore Purchases. As long as you're signed into the same Apple ID, your Pro entitlement will be restored.
I upgraded to Pro, but iCloud sync isn't on yet
After purchase, quit the App fully and reopen it. iCloud sync attaches to the data store at launch. The Settings → iCloud row will change from "Restart to enable" to "Active" once the new container is in use.
iCloud sync (Pro)
Where is my data stored?
- Free tier: only on this device
- Pro: in your private iCloud container, accessible only by you via your Apple ID
We never have access to your data — there is no server.
Will sync work if I'm offline?
Yes. The App is offline-first. Changes you make while offline are saved locally and sync to iCloud the next time you have an internet connection.
My pets aren't appearing on my second device
Check:
- Both devices are signed into the same Apple ID
- iCloud is enabled for Pet Health Manager: Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Apps Using iCloud → Pet Health Manager
- You've upgraded to Pro on at least one of the devices
- You've fully quit and reopened the App after upgrading
- You have a working internet connection
If sync still doesn't work after 5 minutes, email us with the iOS version and device model.
Widgets
How do I add a widget?
Long-press your home screen → + → search "Pet Health Manager" → choose either Next Medication or Vaccine Due → drag to your home screen.
My widget is empty
Make sure you have:
- At least one active medication or upcoming vaccine
- The App Group capability is enabled (this is set by us — if you've tampered with build settings, restore them)
- Opened the App at least once after installing/updating, so the first snapshot is written
