Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an account?
No. Skeinery has no account and no sign-in. Your purchase and iCloud sync use the Apple Account already signed in on your device.
What is free, and what does the unlock add?
The free plan includes 2 projects and unlimited row counting. Unlock everything is a one-time purchase that adds unlimited projects, the yarn stash with photos, and PDF and CSV export. There is no subscription and no trial. You can buy it in Settings → Unlock everything.
How do I restore my purchase?
On a device signed in to the same Apple Account, go to Settings → Restore Purchase. The unlock screen has a Restore Purchase button as well.
How does iCloud sync work?
iCloud sync is on for everyone, with or without the unlock. Skeinery syncs your data through the private iCloud database of the Apple Account on your device, so the same data is available on your other iPhone or iPad signed in to that account. There is no switch inside Skeinery: Settings → iCloud Sync opens iOS Settings, where iCloud is turned on or off. Without iCloud — signed out, switched off or offline — Skeinery still works fully and keeps your data on the device.
How do I use the widget?
Open a project and tap Pin to widget, then add Skeinery's Row Counter widget, small or medium, to your Home Screen. It shows the first counter you added to the pinned project, with a + button that adds one step to it. One project can be pinned at a time. Counts made inside the app appear on the widget when iOS next refreshes it, which can take a while.
Can I add rows with Shortcuts?
Yes. In the Shortcuts app, use Skeinery's Add Rows action and enter the number of rows, the project name and the counter name. The names must match a project and a counter you already have; capital letters don't matter.
How do I export my data?
Export is part of the unlock. Open a project, tap the Share button at the top, and choose CSV — everything (all your projects, counters and yarn stash in one spreadsheet file) or PDF — this project (a one-page record of that project, its counters and notes). Neither file includes photos, and anything that does not fit on the PDF's single page is cut off.
How do I delete my data?
Touch and hold a project in the Projects list and tap Delete Project (it is also at the bottom of Edit Project). This also deletes the project's counters and its progress history; skeins in your stash are kept. To delete a skein, open it in Stash and tap Delete Skein. To remove a project's photo, touch and hold the project, tap Edit Project, tap Remove Photo, then Save; a skein's photo can be changed but not removed on its own. Deleting happens immediately, without a confirmation step, and there is no option to delete everything at once.
